Mindfulness in Nature

I grew up partly on a farm and I inherently knew the powers of nature to heal in general.  My mind would relax after a period of sitting or walking in nature and I would have less negative self talk. Associations between Nature Exposure and Health: A Review of the Evidence  found evidence for associations between nature exposure and improved cognitive function, brain activity, blood pressure, mental health, physical activity, and sleep.    

Attention Restoration Theory (ART) posits that the mental fatigue associated with modern life is associated with a depleted capacity to direct attention [2]. According to this theory, spending time in natural environments enables people to overcome this mental fatigue and to restore the capacity to direct attention [3]. The Stress Reduction Theory (SRT) describes how spending time in nature might influence feelings or emotions by activating the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress and autonomic arousal because of people’s innate connection to the natural world
